Life is the sum of experiences that we encounter as go through life. Day to day to struggles and triumphs are experienced by all of the world's creatures. As human beings, when we encounter a challenge, we have freedom to choose how to react. Every decision that we make leads us down another road. We will never come to exactly the same crossroads. Every decision the we make has significance. The tiniest choice that is made reverberates throughout the entire universe.

HELLO 2011!!!

Whole Family at "Buena Noche"
Celebrating New Year's Eve is one of the most anticipating events for me, well of course, I'm always excited about my birthday.

On the next couple of days, we will realize how much did we overcome the year that was about to pass. We will realize that there are things that have randomly come and go and there are people who have changed.
2010 was so overwhelming year! I had so much things that was fortunately I was able to accomplish but there are just things that you cannot have nor control if it's not really meant to happen. I remembered when I just started doing this blog for the celebration of my 25th birthday and the things-i-plan-before-turning-26. 2010 have opened alot of opportunities and gave me alooooot of emotions.....

Medyo marami ko ngawa at napuntahan din this year..

LA MESA - ECOPARK

La Mesa Eco Park
Before this year ends, our family decided to wander at La Mesa Ecopark. Situated along Fairview, exactly at the Greater Lagro, Quezon City. La Mesa is perfect for family picnic and bonding. Please take note of the park’s admission fee is only Php 50 for adults and kids 3ft. and up. For QC adult residents, it is only Php 40, Php 20 for students and free admission for senior citizens. Ecopark is an example of good escape without even going up North or South Expressway.  I cannot imagine how do they preserve this park in the middle of a busiest city in the Philippines. (maybe because of the watershed/ reservoir served to million Metro Manila residents).

Family picnic time
From the entrance, you have to walk. You will be welcomed by the large green lushes forest and the sounds of a humming birds and kids who are playing in the swimming pool. Exciting talaga to! Tara na.

There were so much families gathered here also.
We arrived at 10am. The sun shines bright talaga kaya medyo mainit na pero maganda na rin ito kesa sa umulan. First thing that you need to do here is to look for a place where the family could stay and enjoy the view. We are fortunate that we grabbed the airy and nice scenery of the place. Ay, wait asan ang banig????! tsk..tsk..

Ligaw na bulakalak, ang tawag ko dito. hehe
Pork barbeque, Shrimps, Adobo and Pancit
Early lunch while having pictures with the ABS-CBN logo.

There are picnic tables and monoblock chairs that you can rent. So since the no. 1 important thing that we supposed to bring is nakalimutan, we finally rented.  La Mesa Ecopark offers outdoor activities that you, friends, family and loveones can enjoy. There are boat riding, mountain bike trails, horseback riding to name some and for their newest attractions they have now paintball, wall climbing and zipline.

Ecopark is also famous in couples. Why, kase they do shoots pre- nup here. Medyo marami rami sila having a pictorial of their pre -wedding event nang dumating kami. I just noticed, wala lang ;)

Zip line (Kathleen and Mavic)
Wall climbing with ate (left) me (right)
I was so happy when I and ate finished the wall climbing. Mind you, this is our first time and those who have tried it even the guys before have failed to do it! So we really must be so proud. Plus, knowing ako yung nasa side ng mahirap because of the curve by the wall itself. I was almost to give up, I was already panicking that I can hardly pushed myself up and reached the next stone. Huh! Hirap pala.

All I need is a cheer lang pala, which Mavic did and so I tried again pulling myself up with all my strength and I made it.  When you were on top, you feel so relieved and so PROUD!! Oh, going down the wall is much exciting pala. hehehehe.

The Lake
But if you prefer to swim, meron din sila. It is called pool and bath house which is really good kase very close to nature.  The pool entrance fee I think is P60. Pero I heard they have launched a new Olympic Pool also by the ABS-CBN Foundation for the reason of sustaining to save La Mesa Watershed Project. Nice di ba!

Captured large green fields.

Refreshing!
La Mesa Watershed in Quezon City is the primary source of drinking water of about 12 million Metro Manila residents. The property is owned by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS), a government agency. La Mesa Watershed is 2700 hectares, 700 hectares of which is the reservoir and 2000 hectares of which is the surrounding forest. This forest is the last remaining one of its size in Metro Manila and serves as its carbon dioxide sink. La Mesa Watershed, therefore, is vital to the city, not only because it is a primary source of drinking water, but also because its forest functions as the lungs of Metro Manila, providing it with clean air.
Due to lack of funds, illegal settling, poaching and logging, La Mesa Watershed came into disrepair and ruin. In 1999, ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc. created Bantay Kalikasan (Nature Watch) and, in partnership with the MWSS, undertook the Save La Mesa Watershed Project. The project aimed to rehabilitate, reforest, preserve and protect La Mesa Watershed. The total area that needed reforestation was 1500 hectares. Today, eight years since the project started, only 158 hectares remain to be planted. Bantay Kalikasan’s strategy of actively involving the general public in the project, through its Adopt/Protect-ATree/ Hectare programs, was key to its success.
To sustain the Save La Mesa Watershed Project, Bantay Kalikasan, in partnership with the MWSS and the Q.C. Government, rehabilitated and renovated a 33 hectare public park located right outside the natural boundaries of the watershed and 40 meters below the reservoir. In September 2004, it was renamed La Mesa Ecopark and reopened to the public. All revenues generated by La Mesa Ecopark are utilized for the continuous preservation and protection of La Mesa Watershed. (Source: La Mesa Ecopark website)

Chris and Mitch Wedding

Before 2010 has ended, I fortunately attended a very great friend's wedding

The couple

Mitch and I were friends since high school and we're attending the same church since elementary. So since I've known this girl that far, I was surprised to know that she's getting married to the man that I met only once (first met, during the wedding of our highschool friend also). Initially, Christian was not my type for Mitch.  He's like chickboy though. hehe..

The next meeting with him was when the wedding is being prepared already. So I realized, I was wrong with the first impression. Christian is such a good man and very charming. He used to make jokes and so we laugh.
The Bridal Car

I was thankful because I wasn't only invited but asked to be bridesmaid.  Oh di ba, what can I ask for...
The wedding ceremony led by the pastor ng Lokal of Quiapo is simple and yet very solemn. Maybe I was so excited being a first- time Bridesmaid, when it was my turn to get the ring to the ring bearer, I was lost where to hand-over the groom's wedding ring which I supposedly give first to the bride then she will be the one to give it to the pastor, nevertheless I still able to make it. hoooh!

Have a blessed family life Mitch and Cris

How to make a WONDER WOMAN costume.

"OMG! Cosplay? Eh, that's expensive ah.." I blurted out when I found out the theme for our year - end party in the office. Though I was excited, I was kinda problematic...

Before and after transformation

My colleague suggested me to portray Angelina Jolie at the Tomb Raider movie. Since I planned to dress up simple because I do not need to spend too much and yet catchy to judges, I instantly agreed to do it.

But celebrating the (annual) year end party in the office is not just easy. Although we are just less 20 in number, competition is always at its peak.  For me, ranking either second or first place annually was still a pressure. Because I never can tell who will surprisingly be so serious about it to the extent that they're willing to spend. So, after a couple of weeks looking what costume that's best for me and since my friend Jhay was so persistent to change my costume just to win, I finally decided to showcase Wonder Woman, the famous heroine in "Justice League". At first, I decided to hire but change my mind because it was pricey.  So I have to try my coolest homemade costume.

 1.  For my red top tank, it was bought by a nice friend cost P250. It has few beads exactly along the breast line and it has zipper in the middle so I can easily wear and take it off.  WW (Wonder Woman) made from cut outs carton and drawn using pentel pen. I just need to use stapler every time if falls from it. :)

 2.  Cuffs, belt and crown are all made also from cut outs carton, covered by gold metallic foil. I put a small red star in the middle of my crown.

 3. Boots, I have to borrow boots from ate Anne though it was black. I just put white tape over the center of the boots and on the top edges. The cape I am  wearing is also borrowed from Ate Theena.

 4. I borrowed my sister's long brown wig to add a little fancy to the way I look.

 5. Lastly, I have found the perfect color blue shorts to complete my WW costume.  It costs me only P50. I just cut outs white stars and stick into it.

After few weeks of preparation, I got the FIRST PRIZE this year, again!

Words for the year!

I wanna share this new knowledge (if it is..) to you guys, kase alam ko ang iba sa atin, eh somehow ganito rin tulad ko, minsan naive and since there are so many 'new things' for me in 2010, I would like to share some words na ngayon ko lang nalaman ang kahulugan!' (kahiya!).
  • Ped Xing - Wow talaga! Pedestrian Crossing pala ang ibig sabihin nito. Eh, buti nalang nakapagbasa ako ng blog at 'dun ko lang nalaman what it truly means. All this time, I was really asking myself what does Ped Xing means everytime I passes by Divisoria in Manila. I thought it's just a sort of a chinese street name. I never asked anyone about it until I happened to drop by to one of the blog sites w/c I forgot immediately.  I know I know, I'm such a di**! Oh, crap!
  • Bum - sigh first... I am not sure if you'll agree with me, but I think this new word eh ngayon year lang ginamit. Marami ko nababasa sa mga FB comments, saying this word so I checked it for myself and it means, "A homeless person" or "Bottom or butt". (Ah, okay'd).
  • Puke - If you were a Filipino, you know the meaning of this bold word, aren't you? but in the foreign land, it is not what we think of. Although I have an idea, this is the meaning of such word - to vomit. Okay, hindi naman pala lahat ng word ng puke eh bastos!
  • Über - a German word. Uses as preposition or prefix. uber means ultimate, above all, the best, top, something that nothing is better than.  Or it may means very and really.  It also mean like "SUPER". überword.
New found words people are getting used to but I happend to know just recently. ('-'). Until next year!
